Addictions Foundation of Manitoba (AFM)

AFM works to contribute to the health and well being of Manitobans by reducing the harm associated with alcohol, other drugs and gambling through education, prevention, rehabilitation and research.

AFM offers rehabilitation services to adults and youth regarding alcohol, other drugs and gambling. These rehabilitation programs consist of individual and group counselling, discussion groups, lectures, videos and handout materials. AFM also provides a full range of prevention, education and training services.

Emergency Response Information Kits (ERIK)

ERIK (Emergency Response Information Kit) promotes awareness and preparedness for individuals encountering an emergency situation. The kit is a standardized package of health related information (that is placed on your refrigerator) to assist paramedics and first responders’ personnel in providing up to date information in emergency medical situations. The kit has information such as: who to contact, your doctors name and any special needs or wishes that you might have regarding your care.

These kits are distributed by local seniors’ resource councils and can be obtained through Seniors Resource Councils


Medication Information Line for the Elderly (MILE)

Have any questions or concerns about the medication you or someone close to you is taking? If so, this free resource can help answer your questions.

Using experienced licensed pharmacists, MILE is a free phone information line supplementing information offered by your pharmacist and physician. Inquiries pertaining to drugs and proper drug use practices can be made over the phone to a pharmacist consultant, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
